| Staff engaging in a listening skills exercise |
Leading and influencing amidst cultural, ethnic, gender and personality differences - this was the topic we tackled today as a part of our Leadership Development Track. Revelation 7 is a picture of what eternity will be like - women and men of every ethnicity and culture with Jesus at the center of it all. And yet, life this side of heaven isn't always filled with such beauty. In fact, the body of Christ has struggled since the beginning with living into the reconciled realities that the Scriptures point us to.
Today our goal wasn't to provide any kind of quick fix, but to give our staff team some handles for how to lead their diverse groups. We talked about active listening skills as a helpful tool for working at good communication. Rob Dixon, Surf and Turf Divisional Director, joined us and led a session helping staff to consider how they can facilitate and lead their group times in such a way that each group member has space to share and contribute to the group experience.
Please pray for our staff team! They're a highly motivated and gifted group, and are on the front lines of so much of what goes on this summer.
- Pray that God would give them wisdom and discernment as they seek to lead and develop a diverse group of young leaders
- Pray for renewal and strength as this team shoulders key responsibilities throughout the summer
- Pray that our FUI community experience would be a foretaste of Revelation 7 realities that would equip students to pursue and develop multiethnic witnessing communities on their campuses.
